The Shot Tec is designed for a fairly specific purpose—strengthening the muscles used when taking a wrist shot (and only a wrist shot). Basically, a hockey puck is attached to a resistance band that is fitted into a track. The player uses a dial to choose how much resistance they want and then practices “shooting” the puck. The puck only moves forwards and backwards on the track so the full wrist shot motion cannot be completed. Use your legs, arms, core muscles and stick to generate maximum power for a slapshot. Place your lower hand near the middle of the shaft and contact the ice a few inches behind the puck to get the most flex and power from the hockey stick. For a wrist shot, draw the puck back to get more power, and be sure to transfer your weight.
